WCSSA Autumn: 9/10 Boys & Girls Volleyball Review

The Year 9/10 Boys and Girls teams competed at the Bendigo WCSSA Autumn tournament on Tuesday. Both teams were successful by reaching their respective grand finals. It was brilliant to witness their competitive spirit during game play and especially their significant skill development and team work improvement over the course of the tournament. It was important for these students to experience the factors which are involved in sporting competition. These include; effective communication, co-operation with team members, opponents and referees, resilience through times when it would have been easy to give in and give up, and of course hard work to name a few. I trust that all students would agree that they gained from the experience and represented their school, their team and themselves well, in readiness to face further sporting challenges in the near future.

The Year 9/10 Girls team were runners-up and they can hold their heads high knowing they improved significantly from six weeks ago and perhaps surprised themselves how well they did. Well done Gemma, Alex, Meg, Nany, Cassie, Annie and Elspeth on a solid performance. The Year 9/10 Boys team was consistent throughout the tournament and rallied together to make the final and win in an exciting fashion. They came from behind against a competitive team in Melton in the last 4 minutes to win by 3 points. A terrific character building and revealing exercise! Hopefully there will be even greater competitions to come for all involved.
