Covenant Warriors: Introduction
The “Covenant Warriors” is Covenant College’s newly established sporting identity.
From this point on, when students from Years 7-12 are selected to represent the college and compete at an interschool level, they will be competing under the banner of the Covenant Warriors.
The sporting organisations in which we compete have been notified of our name change.
But it’s more than a name change; it’s an attitude change.
In the sporting arena, we want our students to bestow the characteristics that makes a warrior great in the eyes of their rivals and in the eyes of those they seek compete for; our college community; students, staff and parents alike.
We want our students to compete as warriors.
Courageous; willing to rise up and compete against schools bigger than our own, fearing none.
Confident; being fully aware of the skills and talents we possess, and displaying these unashamedly in competition.
Resilient; persevering through fatigue, hardship and doubt in both training and competition.
Loyal; supporting teammates, leading with integrity, following with strength. Competing for Covenant College with pride.
Excellent; relentlessly pursuing, regularly achieving and readily displaying a high standard of both skill.
So as to dispel scepticism, the Covenant Warriors logo wasn’t plucked from another school or stolen from a random online source. This logo it was designed afresh, crafted with the vision that was formed over two years ago of who we were to become, seeking to capture the image of our student athletes at Covenant College.
It will mark the uniforms of our students, an external symbol representing the internal truth; that a warrior lies within.
It will mark the heart of the Multi-Purpose Centre, where it will be the core of centre court placed permanently in Covenant’s future history as a reminder to ourselves and to our school community of who we are when we compete, when we train and when we live. To the rival schools that enter our realms, they will not mistake who they’ve come to compete against and who it is they attempt to overcome.
Warriors are not easily overcome.
Our students will believe this. Our rivals will soon realise this.
An new era has begun…
